Sportsmanship award

Concord High School rising senior Max Leahy (pictured) received the John E. Burke Sportsmanship Award from the N.H. Basketball Officials Association. David Greenidge, Sr., and Dennis Ordway of the NHBOA presented the award. The John E. Burke Sportsmanship Award is presented annually to a high school junior boy and girl who exemplify the principles of sportsmanship, integrity and dependability on and off the basketball court.

Middle school

The Bow Memorial School baseball team (8-5) fell to Amherst Middle School in the Tri-County Division 2 championship game, 4-0. Aidan O’Keeffe and Troy Konstantakos pitched great for Bow, going a combined seven innings, striking out six batters and only allowing one hit to a very solid hitting Amherst team. Clayton Nazdan went 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Josh Roos and Konstantakos recorded two putouts in the field, while Bryce Gervais showed a strong performance behind the plate, catching his first game of the season.

Youth baseball

Banks beat Kiwanis, 17-11, in the Concord Northeast Babe Ruth semifinals. For Kiwanis, Noah Chrabolowski pitched 4.1 innings, striking out five and giving up just three runs. Tyler Mayo lead the offense going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Banks battled hard, and Tommy Weaver came in to pitch 5.1 innings to give them a chance to win. Rowan Arndt led the offense scoring four times and stealing six bases.

■Concord Police Patrolmen’s Association beat Rowley Agency, 9-6, in the other Babe Ruth semifinal. For CPPA, Patrick Owen collected two hits and was excellent behind the plate. Deagan Hines pitched five innings, giving up two runs. He also reached base on each of his four plate appearances and scored four runs. For Rowley, Levi Sweatt, Arden Mawdesley and Logan Hayes each had a hit. Dylan Nadeau drew a walk in both of his plate appearances.

■The Eagles beat Granite State Glass, 15-4, in the Concord Little League AAA semifinals. Strong outings from FrederikFjeldsted (2.2 innings pitched, four strikeouts), Maddox Harvey (0.2 innings, strikeout) and Leo MacBride (1.2 innings, three strikeouts), as well as strong defense by CardenAldridge helped keep the GSG bats in check. MacBride (home run, two hits, two runs), Aldridge (two hits, double, run), Wyatt MacDonald (hit, two runs), Harvey (hit, run) and Tucker Kirshneur (hit, run) led the offense.

Youth softball

 In the Cap Area Majors softball action, Concord Northeast Local Baskit edged Hopkinton Key Collision, 8-7. For Local Baskit, Natalee Rowell pitched four no-hit innings and scored the winning run. Dorothy Ricard, MahalieBurdette and Anna Leon had key hits in the winning rally. For Key Collision, Ella Johnson pitched six great innings and Zoe Freitas was a force behind the plate and on the bases.

Local golf

Hillsboro’s Dave Fleming finished second overall in the age 75-91 division and Loudon’s Joe Labontee finished third overall in the age 55-74 bracket at the Valley Seniors Golf Tournament event at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield. Labontee finished first in his subdivision, while Fleming finished second in his subdivision.

Summer hoops

SNHU women’s basketball head coach Karen Pinkos is hosting a High School Elite Clinic on June 28 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. There is a 50 player limit. Contact Valerie Driscoll at v.driscoll@snhu.edu.

■Spartans Basketball, New Hampshire’s largest AAU basketball program, will be hosting its annual Summer League Session at the Derry Sports Center. Roller skating hours at Douglas N. Everett Arena will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 6-9 p.m. Roller skating will only be available for a limited time through July 31.
