■School’s out! That means that the signup for the Summer Reading Program at the Boscawen Public Library starts. The six-week program kicks off June 27 with a long list of fun activities for kids. On June 30, the library will host a Make and Take Crafts workshop beginning at 2 p.m. Lego Saturdays will be held on July 2, 9 and Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. Be sure to register the kids for the Teddy Bear Workshop will be held on Thursday, July 14 at 2 pm. Mr. Aaron is back with all kinds of fun activities on July 18 at 6 pm. ■Head to the Annual Yard/Craft/Bake Sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Horace Chase Lodge at 53 N. Main St. Vendors – space rentals are available for $15 or with table for $20. ■An all-day fundraiser is coming on Saturday to the Black Forest Nursery. Ten percent of all sales on that day will be donated to the Boscawen’s Congregational Church ministry and mission. Save the date of June 25 to buy a plant or two and brighten up your community.

■ The Canterbury Planning Board, in conjunction with the other land use boards in town, invite all interested residents to participate in the Master Plan vision session on June 18 from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Center buildings. There will be coffee and refreshments from 9:30 a.m. onwards in the Town Hall, where the session will begin. Breakout sessions will follow after the introduction. It is hoped that the morning will provide constructive discussions and sharing of ideas for the town’s future. Members of the Planning Board, Agricultural and Conservation Commissions and the CNHRPC will facilitate the discussions. There will be childcare provided by Danielle Krautmann, and her contact email is included in the agenda. For those unable to attend, it is hoped to arrange for a remote discussion forum at a later date. Mask wearing is optional.
■Do you want to be one of Canterbury’s voices in reviewing state permit applications that affect the Merrimack River? If so, please consider becoming a member of the Upper Merrimack River Local Advisory Committee aka UMRLAC. Any project within a quarter-mile of the river must submit a plan for review by the committee. In addition to Canterbury, representatives from Franklin, Northfield, Boscawen, Concord and Bow meet once a month on the second Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Educational presentations are often part of the meetings too. ■Canterbury will be changing all town email addresses on June 17 from Canterbury-nh.org to Canterburynh.gov. Emails sent to the .org address will be forwarded to the .gov address for one year.

■“Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure” will meet on June 28 at 2 p.m. Our guest this month is Mark Travis, a longtime journalist and Canterbury resident. (He and his wife, Brenda, edit the newsletter) He’ll be talking about writing a mystery. He’s on his second, and like the first, it’s set in Concord during the Civil War – but with a Canterbury twist too. For a short excerpt from the draft you can read in advance, contact the library. We meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.
■Elkins Public Library will be kicking off the 2022 Summer Reading Program, Oceans of Possibilities on June 25. Join us at the library as we host Squam Lake Science Center’s outreach program – Aquatic Critters – at 10 a.m. Please sign up for this event on our Facebook page or by calling the library. During the summer, the children’s room will be offering Story Time and Tunes, Tales and Tumbles weekly. These programs are drop-in programs so feel free to stop by and check them out. ■Elkins Public Library’s Street Fair, with crafts provided by the Children’s Museum of NH, will be held on July 23 at 10 am.
■This summer the library is offering three different events for those entering middle school and high school. ■The selectmen have started planning for the creation of a Highway Department and are actively searching for a property to purchase located in Salisbury to house these services. The board would preferably like to find vacant land that is located on Route 4 or 127. ■The Salisbury Historical Society museum and Meetinghouse will both be opened with exhibits this season on Sundays between 1 and 3 p.m. Admission is free, and donations are welcome. ■Vehicle renewal registration information was mailed to those who need to renew in July, please follow the directions in the letter enclosed and the town clerk will mail your new stickers and registration to you; this only covers vehicles previously registered in Salisbury, not new vehicles or vehicles of new residents. Online vehicle registration for renewals and dog licensing is now live. See the town’s website under the department of the town clerk for that information.

■The Town Clerk’s office will be closed June 20 due to an unexpected event. The office will hold night hours June 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. This is in addition to the regular Wednesday hours of 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Note, the office will also be open June 24 from 8 a.m. to noon as it is the last Friday of the month.
■The Swap Shop at the Transfer Station is open on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m., and if there are more volunteers, it may be open even more hours. The categories at the shop include children’s books for all levels, adult fiction and nonfiction, pet items, crafts, holiday decorations, puzzles, cookbooks, dishes, lamps, glasses, coffee cups, vases, purses and tote bags. Everything is free. You can drop off your gently used (or unused) items when it is open
■The Webster Fire Department is having its annual barbecue chicken dinner on July 23 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 each and are available from anyone in the department and numbers are limited. All money that is raised is donated locally.
■The Selectboard will hold a public hearing to receive input regarding a tax-deeded, town-owned property at 874 Battle Street. This is a seven-acre parcel that borders the Blackwater River and has a home and barn. The Board is preparing to sell the property. The meeting will be held on June 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Grange Hall at Town Hall.
■The library is looking for volunteers for the Summer Reading Program (Oceans of Possibility). Children can sign up starting on June 27 and the event officially kicks off on July 11. For the children who sign up, there are two parts to the program: keeping track of their reading with some incentives and (for the younger kids) attending storytimes. Volunteers are needed to provide the stories that are read during the Monday (6:30 p.m.) story time from July 11 to Aug. 1. For more information, contact the library at 648-2706.
