So many people are interested in buying homes in Concord, one real estate website calls the city’s housing market the “hottest” in the country.

And while Concord’s housing market may not really be No. 1 – the number of sales in Merrimack County actually declined slightly in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2020 while the number of days that homes stood on the market was almost unchanged – it’s certainly pricey.

The average single-family home sold in Merrimack County went for $421,000 in the first quarter of the year, up 16.7% over 2021, while the average condo went for $218,000, up a  staggering 31% over the previous year, according to the New Hampshire Association of Realtors.

Don’t despair, though; both those averages are slightly less than the statewide numbers. Things are more expensive around the Nashua-Manchester corridor and are much more expensive on the Seacoast, where the average condo is $450,000, more than the average Merrimack County house.

Realtor.com, a private website not affiliated with the National Association of Realtors, named Concord its hottest market in June based on a variety of factors, including the amount of time that listings in the city stayed on its site and the number of people who checked each listing.

Realtor.com has long been popular with New Hampshire buyers as Concord has been in the top five listings for months, and Manchester-Nashua has been in the top spot for 9 of the last 12 months.
