As a senior whose father was badly wounded in WWII, whose brother has scars from service in Vietnam and whose three grandchildren will suffer from our government’s failure to meet the challenges of climate change, I am totally disgusted with both our political parties stifling the will of the majority of Americans in favor of corporate interests.

Where are the leaders that can think of country first, those that can ignore lobbyists and write their own legislation that reflects the majority of voters? Corporations aren’t people. They are legal entities created by people to shift wealth from individual pockets to a handful of power brokers. The fossil fuel industry’s goals do not equate with our country’s best interests. They do not need tax incentives from our coffers. Nor does the country do well by giving in to threats by chip manufacturers to leave the country if they do not get tax incentives to stay. There has got to be a better way. We can start by participating in the elections, by getting out to vote.
