Well, Dave Sandoe, you asked the question, “What do you think?” I think you’re wrong. The Fourth Amendment was an implicit response to the practice British soldiers had of entering and/or taking over a private house for their own use. But the amendment also says that searching a house and seizing contraband is warranted upon a judge acting on “probable cause” and issuing a search warrant, which also implies or stipulates seizure of evidence or stolen goods.
So, there is nothing illegal or unconstitutional about the FBI’s warranted search of Trump’s residence and its seizure of classified documents, which are not owned by Trump or any other president but which are the property of the U.S. government (which, you must know, Trump is no longer a member of). Even a president is not allowed to take classified documents home with him. I think that Trump should be tried for breaking at least one or two federal laws.
