Emergency crews responded to the CVS pharmacy on Hall Street Monday night for reports of an SUV that crashed through the front of the store.
Concord Fire Battalion Chief Anthony Manning said both the driver and passenger, a couple in their 70s, were uninjured.
Several customers were inside the store at the time of the crash but none were in the immediate area of the impact, he continued.
The vehicle crashed through the front entrance of the store around 7:53 p.m., shattering the glass and warping the metal frames, before knocking over several shelving displays. It came to a stop 25-feet inside the building.
“There was no immediate structural concern for the building and we didn’t transport anyone to the hospital,” said Concord Interim Fire Chief John Chisholm.
Within an hour, the scene was cleared and the vehicle was towed. The store was closed Tuesday but was scheduled to reopen Wednesday.
Manning said the cause of the crash is under investigation by the Concord Police Department but crashes like these often occur when the driver hits the gas instead of the brake.
