A national bus tour urging people to support laws that lower health care costs stopped in front of the State House on Tuesday.

The tour, called Protect Our Care, featured speakers touting the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, which provides health insurance for tens of thousands of New Hampshire residents,  and of health provisions in this year’s Inflation Reduction Act, including new authority for Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices and caps on out-of-pocket costs such as a $35 cap on insulin $35 for seniors.

“(These) are a real game changer for families facing serious health conditions, many of whom regularly spend thousands of dollars on prescription drug costs,” said Zandra Rice Hawkins of Granite State Progress.

Among the speakers was Rep. Annie Kuster, who noted her Protecting Seniors Through Immunization Act “will ensure access to life-saving vaccinations at no cost for seniors on Medicare.”

The bus traveled on to Hartford, Conn., on Tuesday and heads south after that, going as far west as Arizona before returning to Florida by late October.
