Franklin Footlight Theatre proudly presents Monstersongs at the Franklin Opera House. This Multi-media musical puts audiences in a synthesized world of graphic novels, rock musicals, live performance, and new technology. The show runs from Oct. 27 to 30. Tickets are $14 and $16. On Oct. 29, the First United Methodist Church of Gilford continues its long tradition of serving the Harvest Supper. Folks return year after year to get their favorite, either dark red kidney beans or white beans, both cooked with maple syrup from a local farm in Gilford. Besides the two kinds of beans, diners are served all-you-can-eat corned beef, cabbage, boiled potatoes, carrots, home-made rolls, butter and apple or pumpkin pie for dessert. Tickets for both the 5 p.m. setting and the 6:30 p.m. setting are available, and cost $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12. If you would like to see the beans uncovered, lifted from their holes and carried into the church, you are welcome to come to the back parking lot at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 19. On Nov. 12 at 2 p.m., historian and author Mike Pride will discuss Civil War nurse Harriet Dame at the New Hampshire Historical Society in Concord. At the lecture, entitled “‘Self Was Absorbed in Loving Labor’: Harriet P. Dame Goes to War,” Pride will recount his exploration of Dame’s career at the war front and her long postwar life. No Place for a Woman: Harriet Dame’s Civil War will be available for purchase, and Pride will sign copies. The lecture is free, and registration is not required.
