I had no idea until I was nearly 40 that I had been born with a fairly rare blood disorder called Von Willebrand’s, which means I do not clot correctly. I guess I was just lucky that I broke no bones before that. But when I rushed into pregnancy at age 27, I had no idea it would end before it barely started.
I hemorrhaged driving home from Maine where I had been celebrating my good fortune. If not for the D&C procedure, another name for abortion, I may have died by bleeding to death and never would have known why. So before anyone celebrates either side of Roe v Wade, consider those of us who truly had no choice.
