On a day celebrating Bow football seniors, the Falcons did what they’ve done most of the season, controlling the lines and utilizing a powerful ground game. Bow seniors reached the end zone four times and locked things down defensively to top Pembroke Academy, 31-9, on Saturday.
That victory marks the fifth straight win for the Falcons, who are poised for the No. 3 seed in the Division II playoffs with one more week to go in the regular season.
Hollis Jones scored on a 3-yard run midway through the opening quarter and fellow seniors Owen Walton and Ben Berube connected for the two-point conversion to give the Falcons an 8-0 lead on the first possession of the game.
Peyton Harmony kicked a 25-yard field goal to put Pembroke (2-6) on the board, but senior lineman turned running back Austin Bouch powered his way into the end zone from the 3 on the last play of the second quarter and Jared Dolder kicked the extra point to make it a 15-3 Falcon lead at halftime.
Jones sacked Pembroke quarterback Joe Fitzgerald and the impact forced the ball free. Jones recovered the fumble, setting up fellow senior Ryan Lover (led Bow with 142 rush yards) for a 5 yard TD run.
Dolder connected on a 25-yard field goal to give the Falcons a 25-3 lead heading into the fourth.
Senior Eric Goodwin – another lineman turned rusher – scored from three yards out with 10:30 left in the game.
Luke Hanson scored on a 4-yard TD run for the Spartans with 33 seconds left.
“A great win for our senior day, and another memorable autumn afternoon,” Bow head coach Paul Cohen said. “I am proud of the effort and tenacity displayed by the team.”
The Falcons travel to 3-5 Laconia on Friday night to conclude the regular season while Pembroke will host Merrimack Valley (3-5) on Saturday for the annual Cloe-O’Brien Bowl.
