Jim Richards is a candidate running unopposed for Concord School Board in District A, representing Wards 1, 2, 3 and 4. Richards is an incumbent who has served on the Board since 2015, and currently holds the position of School Board President. The Concord Monitor requested that he submit a statement explaining why he is choosing to run and what he would bring to the position if re-elected.

Jim Richards

I am running for re-election to the Concord School Board as the representative from District A (Wards 1, 2, 3 & 4). Since 2015 I have had the honor to serve the people of District A, as well as the students, parents and citizens of Concord. During that time, I have always worked to provide all students the resources they need to succeed, whichever pathway they choose to follow upon graduation from the Concord School District. At the same time, I have always remained keenly aware that it is the taxes paid by the citizens of Concord that fund the school budget.

In the coming term, the School Board will make decisions on the middle school, safety and security in all our schools, as well as the challenges in education resulting from the COVID pandemic.

If elected I will bring my business experience and knowledge of the educational system to balance fiscal responsibility with the needs of our students on these key issues. I will continue to seek input from the community and be responsive to those who have elected me to this position.

I want to thank the residents of District A for their support and ask for their vote to re-elect me on November 8th.
