The Bow Mills United Methodist Church pumpkin patch brought the children out in everyone.

At first, Jillian Kotkowski, 8, and her sister, Hannah, 6, dutifully worked on their coloring books, and some homework as their mother, Emily, worked the Bow Mills United Methodist Church patch cashier desk. But the pumpkins drew them in, and they went out and picked up the most oversized gourds and carried them around last week. Eventually, their mother had to join in the fun.

The church pumpkins come from a Navajo Reservation in New Mexico through Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers Inc., which helps churches and non-profit organizations throughout the United States raise money by selling pumpkins. The Bow Mills church’s profit supports both local and global missions. In New Hampshire, it helps support the N.H. Food Bank, Family Promise of Greater Concord, and the Bow Scouts.

The pumpkin patch in front of the church is open Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. through Halloween this coming Monday.
