No. 2 Campbell 5, No. 15 Hopkinton 1
Key players: Campbell – Luke Delia (2 goals); Hopkinton – Lincoln Wilson (goal), Colby Boissy (12 saves)
Highlights: Wilson put the Hawks on the board in the 11th minute after Campbell went up 2-0 in the first eight minutes of the match, but the Cougars scored one more goal before halftime and added two more late in the second half to end Hopkinton’s season in the prelims.
Coach’s quote: “The Hawks played strong today, one of our best games of the season. The score was tight for long stretches at 2-1 and then 3-1. Our defensive line of Lincoln Wilson, Kevin Ball and Will Chapin played assertive and stepped to the ball all night. Unfortunately, we gave up the pair of early goals and couldn’t find much luck otherwise, so we ended up chasing the game, and the win just didn’t prove to be in the cards for us today. It was a competitive matchup with many scoring chances for both teams. As we pushed extra guys forward towards the latter stages of the game, Campbell managed to find a couple late goals that made the final score seem much more lopsided than it felt.” – Hopkinton’s Scott Zipke
Records: Campbell 15-2-0; Hopkinton 5-10-2
