What is the most important issue in this election? Abortion, inflation, crime and competition with China or Russia are unlikely to be decisively solved in the next two to six years. But one issue is confidence in democracy. Our ability to address pocketbook and security issues facing us today hinges on the orderly transfer of power.
Democracy requires self restraint, the willingness to lose today in confidence you can persuade your neighbors and win next time. Candidates who don’t hold this value undermine solutions to all issues facing us, whatever other virtues they have. I urge you to take election denial as your number one issue when voting this year.
