Coe-Brown Northwood Academy’s Aidan Cox finished fifth in Saturday’s New England Cross Country Championships, one of three New Hampshire runners to finish in the top five of the boys’ race, highlighting the area’s competitors at Ponaganset High School in North Scituate, R.I.

Lebanon’s Birhanu Harriman (15:40), Gilford’s Patrick Gandini (15:43) and Cox (15:45) went 3-4-5 to lead N.H. runners, while Devan Kipyego of St. Raphael, R.I., won the New England crown in 15:25.

The Coe-Brown boys finished 11th out of 29 teams, the best finish by a Granite State team in boys’ side of the standings.

Hall, Conn. (89), Bishop Hendricken, R.I. (97) and Ridgefield, Conn. (161) were the top three teams.

Tyler Tkaczyk (72nd, 17:02), Nikhil Chavda (76th, 17:06), Gavin Demas (149th, 17:53), Jamie Lano (194th, 18:24), Luc Kerouac (220th, 18:47) and Sanjith Nomula (237th, 19:11) also ran well for CBNA.

Hopkinton’s Ben Daniels finished in 135th in 17:42.

On the girls’ side, Ruth White of Orono, Maine won the title in 17:51, followed by Brianna Malone of Portsmouth Christian in 18:34.

Coe-Brown’s Sheldyn Fisher (17th, 19:11), Bow’s Maya Brochu (62nd, 20:18), Hopkinton’s Hannah Bennett (108th, 21:04) and Kearsarge’s Molly Ellison (115th, 21:10) rounded out the local competitors.

Glastonbury, Conn. (116), Champlain Valley, Vt. (133) and New Milford, Conn. (174) were the top three teams, while Hanover (seventh) was the top team from N.H.
