Let’s prevent bloodshed on Main Street by asking the Teatotaller Cafe to conduct Drag Queen Story Hour using the Meetup.com app. By using Meetup.com the cafe can advertise events to only pre-screened members. This is an accepted and successful practice attracting those who are like-minded to enjoy gatherings free of conflict. Concord is renowned for countless welcoming venues such as Market Days, Midnight Merriment, and National Night Out. These venues, and many more, bring out the best in people from all walks of life.
Gibson’s Bookstore sets a fine example for a cafe. Since 1898 they have hosted thousands of authors on a myriad of subjects. For 124 years there have been no protests, no bullhorns, no guns. That is the proper standard for a cafe in the capital city. I’m asking city leadership and Teatotaller Cafe to protect all the innocent passersby downtown who are visiting a bank, restaurant, or gift shop. Protect them from an unnecessary, heartbreaking crossfire. The goal of a tea house is to unite people, not divide them after three months of operation.
