■Christmas in the Village will be held on Dec. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. with a visit from Santa and his elves in the Masonic Hall. On Main Street children can decorate cookies, listen to musicians, get faces painted and request balloon creations. From 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. there will be children’s shows in the Methodist Church.

■The Suncook Senior Center has started serving lunch on Wednesday at noon and chance to get out for a meal that only costs $2. You can come and have fun doing a craft and then enjoy a nice lunch. Congregate Dining is held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at noon at the senior center.

■The Suncook Senior Center Granite Visiting Nurse Health Clinic is held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month. Please call 603-224-4093, ext.5815 to make an appointment. The services offered include, foot care, blood pressure screening, medication education and nutritional education.

CHICHESTERHelp for the holidays

■Do you need a little help this holiday season? The deadline to apply for extra help with food is Nov. 30. Chichester has been a partner agency with The Capital Region Food Program for many years and this year will provide a voucher for food. Contact Kristy at Town Hall.

■It’s Senior Days at Darbster Doggy. This Chichester Rescue will be offering a waver of adoption fees on medium and large dogs that are 6 years or older for senior citizens during the December. Stop by their Dover Road facility for special days that apply. This facility is working with Annie’s Angels Pets for Vet Program. This program pairs veterans with a free pet.

■The Chichester Planning Board will have their monthly meeting at the fire station on Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

■A granite stone wall around the sign at the fire station is in need of help. Do you have any cut or split granite that can be used for the wall. Dan the Stoneman has volunteered his services in making the stone wall. Contact the fire station or Paul Sanborn if you can help.

■Chichester Real Estate taxes will be due on Dec. 27.

■Fire permits are required for all outside burning when the ground is not covered by snow. Online fire permits are available at nhfirepermit.com or the following Chichester fire wardens, Alan at 603-344-2959, Kevin at 603-340-7070 or Paul at 603-608-6262.

■The Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet on Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station. Documents can be viewed at town hall.

■Chichester students involved with the Environmental Club visited the outdoor classroom back of the school and traveled over the newly built Sanders Brook Bridge and over wetlands. The Parks and Recreation Commission recently completed the bridge for better access from the school to Carpenter Park.

■Tyler Fish, a regular member of several performances with the Pittsfield Player will be a cast member of “A Dickens Christmas Carol: The Traveling Travesty” on Dec. 16 and 17. The performance will be in Pittsfield at the Scenic Theatre.

■Thanks to the Chichester Fire/Rescue and Police Department for representation in the Concord Christmas Parade. Chichester residents along the route gave a shout out to our volunteers in the parade.

■Please plan ahead for a fun holiday sing-along on Dec. 11 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Town Gazebo.

■The seventh and eighth graders recently spent the day honoring veterans at the State Veterans Cemetery. Lessons were given about our military history.

■The library “Little Book Houses” located at town hall and Carpenter Park have gone into hibernation for the winter.

■The Heritage Commission has added scenic road signs on Lane Road, Garvins Hill, Blackman Road and Towle Road. Thanks to the highway department for installing the signs.

■Wreaths Across America is strong in Chichester. Volunteers are needed to help lay wreaths in all Chichester cemeteries. Nov. 28 is the deadline for wreath sponsorship. Contact Brenda 491-8853 or Fred 798-5543. Laying of the wreaths will be on Dec. 17 at noon.

■Basketball is offered to all students in Chichester from K-8th grades. The dedication of coaches and volunteers make this program a lasting memory for our kids. Contact coach acipriano@sau53.org. Deadline to signup K-2nd graders is Dec. 3 with games starting in January.

■Chichester was part of the hunt for the missing girl on Mt. Lafeyette. Thank you goes out to anyone that dedicated themselves to helping to locate the girl.

■The Epsom Police Association will hold its Annual Holiday Toy and Clothing Drive on Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at Epsom Police Dept.

■The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. at the town office meeting room.

■Library activities include Lego Club on Monday at 3:30 p.m.; Mahjong on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.; Knitters Group on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Story Time on Monday and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Bedtime Story time continues on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Families are invited to a story time that will feature bedtime books, calming music, and relaxing movement activities. Pajamas, blankets, and stuffies are highly encouraged.

■The library movie matinee will feature “Mac and Rita” on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

■“Christmas in the Village” is Sunday, Dec. 4, 1 to 4 p.m. Local children and their families are invited to walk the Main Street “pedestrian mall” to visit Santa and Elves in the Masonic Hall. In the Main Street shops and on the street the children can create holiday crafts, decorate cookies, listen to musicians, fish the pond, get faces painted and request balloon creations. For families there are children’s entertainment shows in the Methodist Church at 1:15 and 2:45 p.m. The hayride offers a historical narrative and there’s a wagon ride too! Get your program when you arrive to make sure you don’t miss a thing! This is a free event sponsored by the GFWC-NH Pembroke Women’s Club, with cooperation from Main Street shop owners, who invite you to visit. No vehicles allowed on a section of Main Street from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Street parking is available elsewhere.

■Pittsfield Food Pantry (located at 55 Barnstead Road) is taking applications for Christmas food baskets. Applications must be completed by Nov. 30.

■Sign-ups are now open for the Secret Santa Program. This program provides Christmas assistance for residents of Pittsfield in need. Children must be 14 years of age or under, must be residents of Pittsfield and the parent or guardian that signs them up must have custody of the child. We will be accepting applications until Nov. 30. We are not taking in-person applications and instead asking that applicants call the fire station (435-6807) between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. For those inquiring about how to assist with the Secret Santa Program, we are accepting donations of new, unwrapped clothing and toys at the fire station. Please call before coming down to be sure someone is in the building. We are also accepting monetary donations, that can either be dropped off at the station or mailed to Pittsfield Secret Santa Program, PO Box 392, Pittsfield NH 03263.

■Joy Church is hosting a free movie night on Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.

■The Pittsfield Elementary School PTO is pleased to announce its first Annual Holiday Craft Fair on Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the PMHS Gym. Vendors/Crafters that would like to secure a spot please email pto@pittsfieldnhschools.org.

■The Children’s Christmas Store, sponsored by the Suncook Valley Rotary Club, will be held on Dec. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the PMHS Cafe. It will be held after the PTO breakfast with Santa event. There will be elves to help the little ones’ shop. Items will be $1 to $5 and will be wrapped by our wrappers. Donation boxes are at the Post Office, Town Hall, and Northway Bank. We are looking for new-gently used items and gift bags and tissue paper.

■The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce sponsored Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration will be held on Dec. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dustin Park.

■On Dec. 3 is the PES PTO Breakfast with Santa from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the PES Cafe. Santa will be on-site from 8 to 9 a.m. Breakfast (pancakes, sausage and a drink) is one for $4, two for $7 and four for $12. The PTO will be selling raffle tickets. There will be a door prize this year for anyone who comes.

■Kids’ Fun Christmas party on Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 24 Main St., Pittsfield. There will be stories, food, crafts and games. We’ll be making placemats and Christmas Trail mix for the nursing home and homebound church members, family, and friends. Ornament decorating and Christmas Gift Grab Bag.

■Every year the youth at the Pittsfield Youth Workshop decorate bags for the local Meals on Wheels program, and we’re currently looking for donations to put a smile on each of the recipients of these bags. This year we will be needing enough items to fill 30 bags. Items like crossword puzzles, travel toiletries, chocolates, and small candies are some examples that would help us out. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via Facebook. We will be collecting donations until Dec. 9.

■Journey’s End Maple Holiday Open House will be held on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 205 Loudon Road. Gift baskets, raffles and food. Santa photos with Krista Tesseyman Photography (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

■The Chancel Choir and the JuBellation Handbell Choir of the First Congregational Church, 24 Main St., are pleased to present a Christmas concert entitled, Shining Bright Christmas, on Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. This special one-hour concert will include many of your favorite Christmas songs and some new ones! ■Pittsfield History Society 2023 Calendar is on sale now. The theme for the 2023 calendar is “Tour the New Museum” with 29 pictures depicting the museum and various displays. The calendar can be purchased at the Historical Society, the Josiah Carpenter Library and the Town Hall. The cost is $15.
