StatewideZoom program

Braver Angels is a non-profit, non-partisan organization which exists to bring people of different persuasions together to share perspectives in a respectful conversation in order to soften the divide, create opportunities for finding common ground, and perhaps find new appreciation for different ways of thinking. The Braver Angels New Hampshire Alliance is launching its second year on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. with an open forum on Zoom called, “What’s Bugging You?” To register, email nh-alliance@braverangels.org or visit braverangels.org/event/whats-bugging-you/.

ConcordDonation boxes

Human trafficking occurs in New Hampshire, and is increasing daily. The Concord Contemporary Club is helping to raise awareness and donations for Brigid’s House of Hope, a safe location for female trafficking victims. This refuge is currently home to six women, with plans to expand. The Concord Contemporary Club is a women’s community service organization, which supports a variety of charitable organizations. The club is asking the public to donate supplies for Brigid’s House of Hope, such as laundry detergent and cleaning products, dishwasher detergent, toiletries and toilet paper, new full and queen-size bed sheets, new pillows and new towels. The club has placed donation boxes at Concord Parks & Rec Headquarters, 14 Canterbury Rd., and at Gibson’s Bookstore, 45 South Main St., which will remain until Feb. 13. Your generous donation to these supplies will help the victims.

ConcordScholarship

Women’s Club of Concord (WCC) scholarships are available to young women in their senior year of high school at either Concord High School or Merrimack Valley High School, who are going on for further education, and who exemplify the WCC mission to empower women. Thus, special consideration is given to community service, leadership, and interest in women’s issues, as well as to financial need and academic achievement. The WCC Scholarships, currently in the $2,000 range, have been awarded annually since the early 1900s. Interested applicants may download the application at wccnh.com/scholarships. Information can also be obtained from the guidance departments at Concord and Merrimack Valley High Schools. Applications are due on April 1. Award recipients are honored at the Woman’s Club Annual Meeting in May, and the monetary award is given after successful completion of a first semester of higher education.
