JV results

The Merrimack Valley JV boys’ basketball team defeated John Stark, 63-24. MV was led by Thatcher Stern with 21 points. All MV players scored in the win to improve to 10-6.

The Pembroke Academy JV boys’ basketball team improved to 15-1 with a convincing 78-35 win over Bishop Brady. Devin Reil led PA with 17 points and Jacob Mather had 16, all in the first half.

The Merrimack Valley JV girls’ basketball team split a pair of recent games, beating Oyster River and falling to John Stark. Against Oyster River, Jada Lucas led a balanced attack with 10 points, with Lenna Quiter and Sam Eiserman each scoring four points and adding strong interior defense. Makenzie Gallagher scored 11 points against Stark to lead MV (8-6).

Tryouts/Registrations

Concord Little League registration is open. Concord Little League serves the entire towns of Concord, Bow, Hopkinton, Henniker, Penacook and Loudon. If your son/daughter is between ages 4-13, register them at concordnhlleague.com. The league offers five levels of baseball: Tee-ball (A), Coach Pitch (AA), Minors (AAA), Majors and a new Intermediate league (13 year olds on a 50/70 diamond). Concord Northeast Baseball and Softball registration is now open. Concord Northeast offers t-ball (ages 4-6), softball (8U through age 16) and baseball (coach pitch, AA/AAA, majors and Babe Ruth). Softball is open to Concord residents. T-ball and baseball are open to kids who live in or attend school in Concord, Hopkinton or Pembroke. Register at concordnortheast.com. Penacook Pride AAU basketball is holding tryouts for the upcoming spring season. There are two tryout dates – Feb. 19 and March 12 – although athletes need to attend one tryout. Tryouts are at the following times on those days: grade 5-8 girls, 9-10 a.m.; grade 9-12 girls, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; grade 5-8 boys, 12-1 p.m.; and grade 9-12 boys, 1:30-2:30 p.m. All tryouts will be held at Boscawen Elementary School. Tryout fee is $20 per player and players will be notified if they made a team by March 15. Events

Public ice skating is at Everett Arena on Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday hours will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday hours will also take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission will be $6 and free for ages 3 and under. Skate rentals will be available for $6 at the arena’s pro shop. Ice skating will continue through March 16. Adult stick practice will be offered for ages 14 and up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. through March 15. Admission will be $10 and free for goalies. Helmet and gloves are required, and full equipment is recommended. Full skating information is available at concordnh.gov/skating.
