‘Bienvenue New Hampshire’ is the greeting you get when you cross into our state. It means ‘welcome!’ This includes most everyone who comes here to enjoy the bounty and freedom of our state, where free spirits and free speech are part of our heritage. But to be welcomed here you must be open and honest about why you are here. This is where the members of the Free State movement meet resistance. Most of us know that their goal is to create a utopia for Libertarians in New Hampshire. The Free State movement is like most cults: they are their own worst enemy. When their strategy is to undermine our existing way of life and change it to their vision, they alienate us and we resist.
What they don’t take into consideration is the immorality of their invasion of New Hampshire. So, I say to them:dDon’t try to deceive us. You won’t succeed. Have your communal festivals and celebrate the free speech that you enjoy here, just don’t try to impose your beliefs on us. Your motivation for placing your members in public office in our small towns is unethical. Your motivation to be a public official should be to serve your community, not to advance your anarchist agenda. Embrace our culture and you find us to be very friendly. So, come be our neighbors and bienvenue, New Hampshire.
