Visit New London Historical Society’s 19th Century Village with buildings open, featuring the 3rd VT and 5th NH Regiments and Naval Contingent! Learn how the common Union soldier lived and fought: Infantry drills, musket fire, rations issue, firing of an authentic Civil War canon. Plus, traveling forge blacksmithing, period music, hearthside cooking, wool spinning, rug hooking/floor cloth making, and view NLHS collections. You’re invited to join in at 6am for Coffee with the Troops. Other activities take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 179 Little Sunapee Road, on Sunday, July 9. Canon firing at 10:15 and 3:30, muskets at 11:15 and 2:15. Suggested admission $20 per car, $15 for members.

On July 6 at 6 p.m., The Loft at Hermit Woods Winery & Eatery welcomes back The Benny Sharoni Quartet with his fused bebop and Latin rhythms, performing both his original compositions and the American songbook. Benny Sharoni returns for his second appearance at The Loft. Benny is a straight-ahead tenor saxophonist, composer, and arranger who is a mainstay in the U.S. and European jazz scenes. The Loft at Hermit Woods Listening Room Series is an intimate sixty-seat music venue in downtown Meredith at Hermit Woods Winery. We will bring talented artists from New England and beyond to perform on most Thursday evenings year-round. Performances will have a decidedly Jazz focus while including folk, blues, classical, and world music.
