On August 1, over 100 businesses and organizations across New Hampshire will join the NH Food Alliance (NHFA) to kick off 2023 NH Eats Local Month. All August-long, NHFA and its NH Eats Local Month partners will be encouraging every Granite Stater to eat food that is grown, caught, and produced in New Hampshire and celebrate the farmers, fishermen, small businesses, and advocates that make the state’s food system so vibrant.
NH Eats Local Month is a month-long collaborative grassroots marketing campaign that promotes New Hampshire grown, caught, and produced food by connecting Granite Staters directly to farmers, fishers, restaurants, food producers, markets and farm stands, and other food-related businesses. From the Seacoast to the North Country, NH Eats Local Month rallies around New Hampshire’s food and farm economy by gathering Farmers’ Market guides and Pick Your Own lists, sharing stories about farmers, chefs, brewers, and other food producers, and partnering with local food-focused organizations and businesses.
2023 NH Eats Local Month celebrations will converge around the Live Free + Eat Local Challenge. To enter the Challenge, Granite Staters have to eat food that is grown, caught, or produced in New Hampshire and submit the name of the farm, fish, or food business where they ate at or from. Each time you eat local, you can enter the Challenge and increase your chances to win one of the dozens of prizes donated by NH Eats Local Month partners.
“We know Granite Staters are up for the Live Free + Eat Local Challenge. Embracing our local farmers, fisherman, and food producers is a way of life in New Hampshire. The Challenge gives everyone the chance to not only support our food system, but to celebrate it and share it with their friends, families, and co-workers. Food connects us all and I’m excited to see how both eaters and partners can really pull out the stops this August to celebrate local food,” said Colleen Stewart, Communications Coordinator for the NH Food Alliance.
