Noemi Wierwille has my vote for the Ward 5 council seat. She has been a Concord resident for ten years, and I have always known her to be thoughtful, kind, a good listener and highly intelligent. While those are all excellent qualities for a city councilor, Noemi would bring far more to the table. An executive with the non-profit Teach for America, Noemi has exceptional leadership skills, demonstrated on a daily basis as she works with leaders across the country to develop their own abilities. She understands the strength of a team approach to getting things done, proven in her professional and community volunteer work. Noemi also has strong collaborative and facilitating skills, all key to being an effective councilor. Furthermore, she has no conflicts and would be able to represent Ward 5 on every item coming before the council.
Like many of us, Noemi is deeply concerned about climate change, one of the reasons behind her decision to run and an issue she has witnessed on a global level in her professional life. She believes that local government is uniquely positioned, and must, address environmental issues head on through policy and decisions, because climate change affects all of us on a daily, accelerating basis. We need councilors who can work together to further mutual goals. Please join me in voting for Noemi on November 7th.
