Allenstown

The Allenstown Supervisor of the Checklist will hold voter registration on Aug.31, 2024 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall, 16 School Street. You will not be able to change party affiliation at this time.

The Town of Allenstown will hold the State Primary Election on Sept. 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Allenstown Elementary School, 30 Main Street.

Allenstown welcomes the towns new Town Administrator, Mr. John Harrington who has lots of experience at both state and local level with administration. He has worked as the town administrator in the adjacent community of Deerfield since 2017 and is a longtime resident there.

Old Home Day Parade will held on Aug. 24 with a parade that starts at 10 a.m. with a lot of activities being held at Memorial field in Pembroke. They have raffles, games, crafts, basketball, food and music. Come a join in the fun.

St. John the Baptist Parish Nurse Health counseling will be held on Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Parish Hall, 10 School Street.

St. John the Baptist Community Table will be back on September 10 at 5 p.m. at the Parish Hall, 10 School Street.

The Annual Parish Penny Sale will take place on October 25 to 27th. this is the major fundraiser that help with repairs, maintenance and renovation.

The Suncook Senior Center will be starting a new game day on the fourth Friday of every month at 10 a.m. starting August 23. The new game is called Head, Foot, and Elbow. So come in for fun and learn a new game.

Meals on Wheels is still looking for Drivers. This is a paid volunteer position and as a driver you will be needed approximately 4 hours a day 12 to 20 hours per week. The 4th Annual Elektrisola Copper Run, 5K will be held on Friday at the Northern Rail Trail, Jamie Welch Park from 5 to 8 pm. Free to Boscawen residents and Elektrisola employees; all others pay $20. Grab a spot along North Main Street from the Town Offices to the Elementary School to watch the Old Home Day parade that starts at 11 am.

Head to Jamie Welch Park for an afternoon of fun with animals, inflatables, games and prizes for the kids. A cornhole tournament starts at 12 pm and a basketball tournament at 4 pm for $25 per team. Food Trucks will be available from Noon to Dusk.

The Town Clerk and Tax Collectors office will close at noon, tomorrow, for Election Equipment Training. They reopen at 8:30 am on Tuesday.

Supervisors of the Checklist will be available on Tuesday, August 27 from 6 to 6:30 pm and the. last day for the town clerk and supervisors to accept voter registration applications. No more changes can be made to the list until Election Day.

Wednesday, August 21 at 5:00pm: Film screening of The Quiet Epidemic, a documentary film about Lyme and tick borne diseases, with Lyme Ecologist, Kathie Fife and Lyme and tick borne disease specialist Dr. Lynn Durand, MD. The Quiet Epidemic follows a young girl from Brooklyn and a Duke University scientist both diagnosed with a disease said to not exist: Chronic Lyme disease. The Town Clerk has applications for the state election absentee ballots. The Free and Fun Summer Carnival to celebrate the grand reopening of Penacook Community Center is today, from 10 a.m. to noon, at 76 Community Drive! Additional parking is available at Merrimack Valley High School.

Today is the Webster Old Home Day: Judy Jones will be the Grand Marshall. The parade begins at 10. There is no deadline to get in the parade, just get to the safety building by 9:30. Following the parade all the old cars will line up behind the school where people can vote for their favorite. There will be games, music, and fun so bring a picnic lunch. We will have some lemonade and watermelon and maybe another surprise treat. Wear old clothes as there will be pie eating, grease pole, sand dig, corn hole, horseshoes, and a story walk by the river for people to enjoy

The Webster Congregational Church August Supper will be on August 24 from 4:30-6:30.
