How wet has it been recently? Very.

The National Weather Service says this is the fourth wettest May that Concord has ever seenย in records dating back to 1868ย and the third wettest May that Manchester has ever seen.

And May isnโ€™t over yet; more rain is expected Friday.

Itโ€™s not just the total amount of rain that has made the month seem damp, however:ย itโ€™s the frequency. There has been measurable rainย in Concord on 15 of the first 27 days of Mayย and trace amounts on three other days, according to the NWS.ย In other words, two out of every three days this month have been at least damp and often drenched. That followed an April that saw measurable rain half the time: 15 days out of 30.ย

Finally, as anybody who has tried to have aย backyard barbeque can attest, weekends have been clobbered.ย Every single Saturday and all but one Sunday in May have seen measurable rain, including almost an inch on Saturday the 10thย and more than an inch on the 17th.ย

Things are supposed to get warmer and probably drier in June.
