In the Concord area, there’s no limit to the creative community events taking place around us. Whether music, theatre, crafting or more, there’s something for everyone.
The Monitor is launching Arts Ahead, a new column sponsored by Merrimack County Savings Bank, to bring you a weekly list of interesting activities and places to explore.
Here are some of the artsy opportunities taking place this weekend and into next week:
Join Witchlight on Warren, a community-centered witchcraft shop in Concord, for their family-friendly grand opening of Prism Movement, a new inclusive community space, at 8 North Main St. in Concord from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
At free celebration, you and your kids can enjoy food, games and raffles.
After hours, the fun will continue with an 18+ party from 7-9 p.m. You can eat snacks, enter raffles and take a chance with an astrology readings, there will also be a drag queen performance by Sybill Disobedience. For the nighttime event, there is a $5 cover charge.
If you enjoy a trip to the theatre, Capital Center for the Arts, along with RB Productions Theatre Company, welcomes people of all ages to the production of “Aladdin Kids” at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage in Concord with shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
You will feel like you are visiting the city of Agrabah as the classic story is told by kids ages 5 – 10. Tickets are $13 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. To secure your tickets: https://www.ccanh.com/show/25000424
The following Tuesday continue the dramatics with the Capital Center for the Arts as they also hosts the “Return to Oz” performed by North Country Center for the Art’s IMPACT Program, a touring children’s theatre troupe. The free show is for adults and kids at the BNH Stage at 10 a.m.
If you want to find the right libation to enjoy on the weekend earlier in the week, Wine on Main will be hosting a free wine tasting event with yoga, live music and pop-ups in Bicentennial Square from 1 to 5 p.m. There will also be a raffle with proceeds supporting CASA of New Hampshire, a nonprofit that advocates for children to have safe homes.
Bring a mat to the Blossom Yoga & Wellness class from 1 to 2 p.m. and a chair for the concert featuring Kevin Horan from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Granite State Grizzlies will have food for purchase, and Capital City Tattoos welcomes walk-ins for select tattoos all afternoon.
From 6 to 8 p.m. the party continues at Penuche’s Ale House for Dave Matthews Band trivia. If your goal is to win, you better start listening to more than just “Crash Into Me.”
How about some tunes at the Fourth Annual BB&B Fest featuring Blues, Brews and BBQ in Community Park from 6 to 8 p.m hosted as part of the Henniker Concert Series.
All three B’s will be more than covered with The Blues Express as the featured band, Henniker Brewing on tap and Mitchell’s BBQ of Rochester providing food.
If local concerts float your boat, this free series takes place every Tuesday until September 2.
At the same time, Pumpkin Blossom Farm will be hosting a Fresh Lavender Wreath and Crafting class on their farm in Warner from 6 to 8 p.m. Luckily, they also have classes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week, if you’re also interested in the BB&B Fest and crafting.
These courses provide all the materials and instruction to learn how to craft with fresh lavender. The farm welcomes people to explore and pick lavender beforehand as well. Until July 20, the lavender fields are open daily, rain or shine for flower picking from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The classes are $115 per person, but will also include a glass of lavender-infused lemonade and a cup of lavender ice cream, only two of their 40 infused products.
All crafting levels are invited. For more information: https://www.pumpkinblossomfarm.com/
