Gov. Ayotte signed the book ban bill passed by the legislature into law. The legislative committees that held hearings on HB 354 each found support of less than 100 and opposition of more than 1,000 at their respective hearings.

New Hampshire public schools already have policies in place for parents objecting to literature selections, including helping students find alternate selections to read for assignments. This allows parents to make choices for their own students without declaring books off-limits for all students.

These types of decisions are best made at the district level, instead of statewide.
