Propaganda from the Social Security Administration
On the 4th of July, I opened my email to find a message from the Social Security Administration entitled “Social Security Applauds Passage of Legislation Providing Historic Tax Relief for Seniors “. The message states “The Social Security Administration (SSA) is celebrating the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that delivers long-awaited tax relief to millions of older Americans”. There is no mention of the $1 trillion the bill cuts from Medicaid, which many seniors depend on for nursing home care, or the 12 million Americans who will lose their health care because of this bill, or the fact that the tax cuts expire in 2028 while cuts to Medicare and Medicaid will continue. As a senior citizen who receives social security benefits, I am deeply offended that the Social Security Administration would suggest that I should celebrate passage of a bill that comes at the expense of my fellow Americans. This is government propaganda, pure and simple. Don’t fall for it. Lucia Kittredge
