Trump uses Social Security email to spread propaganda

In the past I have received emails from ssa.gov notifying me of benefit changes etc. Now, the Social Security Administration is sending me Trump’s propaganda and incomplete information which may mislead Social Security recipients.

The recent email celebrates the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” It claims that the “new law includes a provision that eliminates federal income taxes on Social Security benefits for most beneficiaries.” While President Trump promised to eliminate all income taxes on Social Security benefits, the bill does not do so.

The email says absolutely nothing about: 1. It is a temporary income tax deduction that expires in 2028 and applies to total income, not just Social Security benefits for those age 65 and older. 2. It will lower your taxable income by up to $6,000 for individuals with an adjusted gross up to $75,000 and $12,000 for joint returns with adjusted gross up to $150,000. 3. The deduction begins to phase out between $75,000 and $150,000 and disappears completely at $175,000 for single and $250,000 for joint. 4. There are no provisions for the disabled and early retirees under 65, or survivors below that age.

Most egregious is the use of the Social Security email database to disseminate political propaganda.
