When we send taxpayer dollars to Israel to buy military equipment from our military industrial complex to support an army that is committing a genocide and whose soldiers admit to being instructed to kill unarmed starving civilians, including children seeking food; and when we with a moral compass but don’t actively speak out against this and protest against this, then we are complicit in what our government and those who represent us are doing to continue that genocidal campaign.
Many of us care about social justice, healthcare, the environment, education, infrastructure and other issues that help to improve and support our society.
When our representatives, including Pappas, Goodlander, Shaheen and Hassan, do not call a thing a thing — i.e., genocide — and continue to vote every single time to send funds for military aid to Israel, then they are actively supporting the atrocities that are happening in Gaza and the West Bank. They may try to wash their hands of the crimes against humanity occurring there, but that blood stain is never coming off. They have stood by and voted their continued support for a country actively killing as many civilians as they possibly can on a daily basis.
When they vote to send taxpayer dollars to fund a genocide and support an apartheid government, they are taking our hard earned dollars away from issues that improve society. We deserve better leaders who will focus on human rights here and abroad.
