Since NH pushes for tourism in The White Mountains, you’d think it would be easier for tourists to find bathroom facilities. The last rest area heading north on I93 is in Canterbury, whereas the first rest area heading south is located in Tilton. Does the state expect businesses with easy access off/on I-93 to supply tourists with restroom facilities? Perhaps a tax break on toilet paper and water bills will help offset the expense for businesses, that tourists consider to be rest stops, would help. Maybe cover the cost to have a septic pumped for those businesses that have to maintain a septic system. I work at a business that is close to an I-93 off ramp, and on a busy weekend we even have tourists use the bathrooms as dressing rooms after spending a day on the water!!! Truckers washing up and shaving, people washing their hair in the bathroom sink. It’s a business not a rest stop!!! And the majority of those using the facilities don’t even purchase anything, not even a thank you. Trying to close the business at night while people are shaking the locked door hoping to get inside to use the bathroom is a bit startling. The state wants tourists to spend money here, perhaps offering them a place to relieve themselves once they arrive in The White Mountains would be a nice thing to do other than expecting businesses to provide that relief โ for free.
