At Mountain View Mobile Home Park, we share our residents’ desire for a safe, well-maintained community. That’s why I was disappointed to read Amy Bogart’s recent letter, which misrepresents both my company and the reality at our park in Northwood. Since acquiring the community in 2022, property taxes have risen 69%, insurance 25%, and trash removal 49%. At the same time, we’ve invested over $216,000 in paving, plumbing, and tree removal — all while limiting rent increases to no more than $30 per month for two years. When we discovered the need for $500,000 in additional upgrades to keep the park running and viable, we implemented a rent increase that matched the spike in operating costs, while keeping rates for existing renters significantly below market. This was discussed and agreed upon in a meeting with the residents. The claim that we “doubled” lot rents is simply false. We are long-term owners who believe in responsible stewardship, balancing a fair return on investment with the well-being of our residents. Ms. Bogart’s letter may stir emotion, but it overlooks the realities of operating aging infrastructure and the responsibilities required to ensure these communities remain safe and sustainable for decades to come.
