Bombs on Gaza Harm Us All
Americans seem to not notice the disastrous environmental effects of the bombing of Gaza.
Over 100,000 tons of bombs have been dropped on Gaza, an area about twice the size of Lake Winnipesaukee.
Large bombs pulverize concrete, heavy metals and chemicals. Everything even close to the dropping of a 2,000-pound bomb becomes vaporized, including human beings. The sea breezes blow this toxic mix over the lands to the east. These pollutants are dropped over land and water, sometimes thousands of miles away. Imagine breathing this toxic mix!
Whatโs happening in Gaza doesnโt stay in Gaza.
Israel has also dropped white phosphorus on Gaza and Lebanon which seeps deep into the soil and water, remaining there for years.
This polluted air, water and soil also creates silent victims including wildlife, livestock and pets. Gaza is on the second-most important air corridor for migratory birds and butterflies in the world. The center of this route goes directly through Gaza. More than 1.5 million migratory birds journey between their breeding grounds and their wintering spots in Africa. The birds can not survive without food, water and resting places.
The money and bombs WE send are directly responsible for this loss.
I implore representatives Pappas and Goodlander to co-sponsor Block the Bombs Act H.R.3565. Senator Shaheen and Senator Hassan: please support a companion bill in the Senate. Cut off the flow of arms that violate international law while destroying the environment.
