Soldiers in the Streets
Maybe it’s the crime, maybe it’s the homeless, maybe it’s the graffiti, maybe it’s the litter, maybe it’s the mayor, maybe it’s the cartels. Or, it’s meant as a distraction, maybe from Putin, maybe from Netanyahu, maybe from Epstein, maybe from Musk, maybe from tariffs, maybe from Medicaid.
What if we take a step back. What does it say in the dictator’s playbook? Gradually, almost imperceptibly, get the populous accustomed to living with uniformed armed military on display in every city, all the time. They’re there to keep us safe, secure. If some neighbor from time to time disappeared, well, there must be a reason. Hasn’t it always been this way? I don’t remember.
