Firefighters beat back a fire in the basement of a Hooksett home in just over an hour of their arrival early Wednesday morning.

At 5:29 a.m., Hooksett firefighters arrived at Springer Road to find smoke coming out of both sides of a two-story home. All of the home’s occupants, including pets, were outside of the building.
Met with heavy fire and smoke at the entrance of a walk-out basement, Hooksett firefighters began knocking down the bulk of the fire and called for a second-alarm, which brought in mutual aid from surrounding towns. These crews conducted primary and secondary searches of the home.
By 6:30 a.m., crews had brought the blaze under control, and around an hour and a half later, all responding departments had cleared out from the scene.
The fire inflicted no injuries on the home’s residents or first responders but caused an estimated $386,000 of damage, according to the Hooksett Fire Department. Its cause remains under investigation.
Departments from Manchester, Bow, Auburn, Pembroke, Concord, Goffstown, Bedford, Dunbarton and Candia provided assistance on the scene, as well as the Capitol Area Compact Chief and AMR Ambulance.
