middlebury , VT – Kenneth C. Scupp, 70, a beloved husband, father, and
friend, passed away on Aug. 13, 2025, in Middlebury, Vt. He is
survived by his wife, Josie Scupp, and their two children, Nina and
Kenny Scupp.

Ken was born to Kenneth Scupp Sr. and Regina Graupner Scupp. A
graduate of Shawnee High School in Medford, N.J., Ken excelled in
athletics, holding the record for low hurdles on the track team while
also being a member of the football and ice hockey teams.

Ken went on to earn a B.A. in political science from Gettysburg
College, where he forged lifelong friendships and met his wife, Josie,
in a serendipitous bowling class.

Ken was a devoted father who took great pride in supporting his
children’s sports and extracurricular activities. As they grew, he
passionately encouraged their educational and professional endeavors.
He was overjoyed when Nina married her wife, Amanda, and when Kenny
married his husband, James.

With a long and successful career in the wine and spirits industry,
Ken earned both CSA and WSET professional wine degrees. After retiring
in 2014, he co-founded Top Terroir, a boutique French wine importing
company. Ken and Josie spent extended periods in the south of France,
where they meticulously sourced exceptional wines to bring to U.S.
markets.

An avid athlete throughout his life, Ken ran eight marathons, was a
founding member of the Bow Falconers Men’s Over 40 Baseball Team,
refereed high school and minor league ice hockey, and enjoyed alpine
skiing. He was also a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan and a long-time
season ticket holder, thrilled to witness the Eagles reach the Super
Bowl twice during his lifetime.

Ken and Josie moved to Vermont full-time after years of enjoying their
camp on Lake Dunmore, where they cultivated a close-knit community.
Ken served as Social Director for the Lake Dunmore Fern Lake
Association and was an active member of a French language conversation
group in Middlebury. He also enjoyed engaging in discussions about
history and politics, participating in political activism, taking his
boat I’ll Have Another out on the lake, traveling, and entertaining
family and friends.

The Scupp family is deeply grateful for the gift of life Ken received
from a heart donor nearly three years ago, and for the extraordinary
care he received from his medical teams at Massachusetts General
Hospital, Porter Medical Center, and various practices in Middlebury.

Ken’s celebration of life service was held on Aug. 19 at Salisbury
Congregational Church, where the gathering was standing room only. His
ashes will be laid to rest at Georgetown Cemetery in Maryland at a
later date.
