A New Hampshire man was convicted Wednesday for stealing $17,749.54 in Medicaid funds, according to the attorney general’s office.
Tucker Bean, 32, pleaded guilty in Merrimack County Superior Court to filing false Medicaid claims and records through a mileage reimbursement program designed to pay for non-emergency medical travel.
He conspired with Felisha Cunningham, 29, to submit reimbursement requests between April 2023 and January 2024.
During that time frame, Bean claimed he lived in North Conway and traveled 60 miles each way to a treatment center in Franklin. Cunningham represented herself as a resident of Plymouth and claimed she traveled 25 miles each way to the same facility.
In actuality, the pair lived together in the Franklin/Tilton area, at one point living in an apartment a half-mile away from the center for several months, according to officials.
Bean was convicted of three felony charges: theft by deception, a class A felony charge, and two class B Medicaid fraud charges of falsifying records and falsifying claims.
He was ordered to serve two years in Merrimack County House of Corrections, with six of those months suspended for five years contingent on his good behavior. He was also sentenced to two to four years in New Hampshire State Prison, a sentence that is suspended for five years on good behavior.
Cunningham was sentenced in January. She was convicted of two felonies: theft by deception and Medicaid fraud, false claims.
