Miriam Rose Kender Reis

Harwich, MA – Miriam (Sweetie Pie) Rose Kender Reis, 92 of Harwich MA
passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025.

Miriam was born on February 6, 1933, to Justine Esther O’Connor Kender
Malhoit and Joseph H. Kender Jr. She was born and raised in Shrewsbury
and graduated from Shrewsbury high school in 1950.

Miriam worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for many
professional offices on Cape Cod. She also owned and operated a
successful drapery business out of her home, Ships Bell, in South
Harwich. She volunteered at many community service organizations
including Harwich Council on Aging, Gold Circle Member VFW Auxiliary,
Nauset Neighbors, Harwich Community Disability Gardens, Cape and
Island Fuel Assistance Program, Harwich SALT Council and many others
over the years.

She is survived by her children Debra A. Reis (Jonathan P. Baird),
Delann R. Reis (Reuven Zabari), Connie L. Reis, Ronald L. Reis Jr.
(Sherri Evans), Tracy (Peachy) A. Reis Parascand (Matthew Parascand).
, Sister in law Rosemary A. (Casey) Reis, cousins: Marilyn (Bunny)
Ludovico and Marah Moises, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Aunt Miriam Doran, siblings:
Eleanor P. Judson, Robert J. Kender, David Kender, Patricia A. White,
cousin John F. Kender of Harwich, former husband Ronald L. Reis,
In-laws Leon and Dorothy (O’Connell) Reis, Phillip L. Reis, Nancy Reis
Case Blum, 3 nephews, one niece, and one grandniece.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 246 Main
St, West Harwich, MA, on Friday September 19th at 10:00 am with Father
George officiating. Burial will follow at South Harwich Cemetery,
Chatham Rd, South Harwich, MA. Reception will then follow at the South
Harwich Meeting House located on Cemetery grounds.

Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the South Harwich Meeting
House Inc., P.O. Box 786 Harwich, MA 02645.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Elder Services, Bayada,
CC VNA, Harwich Rescue, CCH and the McCarthy Hospice House.
