Jennifer “JJ” Hall
Concord, NH – JJ Hall was born on November 7, 1967, to Pauline Ellen
Goodman Hall and Ernest Austin Hall, Jr. in Louisville, Kentucky. It
being the south and all, her given name was Jennifer Lynn Hall.
Fortunately, she had a great uncle who, for no apparent reason,
thought it was entirely appropriate to rename his nieces. Accordingly,
Jennifer Lynn was renamed Jennifer Jane. Over the years, Jennifer Jane
was shortened to JJ- and the legend was born.
JJ was an avid supporter of the LGBTQ community, a philanthropist, the
AFIS MacGyver (due to her uncanny ability to fix an AFIS system with
nothing but a paper clip and some spit), an entrepreneur (Lunch Lady
Forever!), a massage therapist, and a real estate agent. In fact,
there was nothing JJ couldn’t do. She was kind and generous to a
fault, she never met a stranger, and had no qualms about arm wrestling
over who got to pay the restaurant tab.
JJ, after a long battle with cancer, departed this life as she saw
fit: in her home, surrounded by friends and family. She is preceded in
death by both parents and the love of her life, Kathy Gardener. JJ is
survived by her older brother, Stephen Hall, her older sister, Melinda
Simpkins, and numerous friends – just like you.
Please gather up your JJ stories and be prepared to share them during
her Celebration of Life on Thursday, September 25th from 4:00 pm to
7:00 pm, with a non-denominational service beginning at 6:00 pm, at
Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester, New Hampshire.
