WAKE UP AMERICA
Sometimes reality can best be seen through metaphors. We are living in such times.
Imagine your family has been taken hostage in their own house. You get the police involved, as well as the FBI and SWAT teams — all funded by your tax dollars. They decide that the only way to solve the problem is to blow up the house and hope that most of the family survives. I think you would cry out, “No! This is nuts!” America wake up, this is what we are doing in Gaza.
Imagine that you have a garden that is wilting and dying because everyone who lives nearby is spraying chemicals — all going into the air, the soil and the water. I think you would cry out, “Stop! You are killing my garden!” The garden is the planet and the fossil fuel industry is killing it with gas, oil, pesticides and plastic. America wake up, this is what we are doing to our planet.
We don’t even need to imagine what a failing democracy looks like — we are living it. Gradually shut down all opposition, sew discord among the people, call out the troops and … it is coming, declare Martial Law thereby halting elections. And the mightiest military in the world blows dinghies out of the water.
America, please wake up. Do everything you can, peacefully, to stop the nightmare we are living in: speak out, write, demonstrate, boycott companies that are colluding with those in power in our country.
