The giant pumpkins at the Deerfield Fair spent their summer soaking up the sun.

Their great unveiling on Thursday at the Super Pumpkin Weigh-Off was met with a bout of rain that’s been missing in New Hampshire for a few months

The damp weather didn’t faze attendees.

Equipped with umbrellas, ponchos and rain boots, fairgoers arrived to get their fix of classic fried foods and amusement park rides. Stallions and mares of all sizes proudly pranced under overcast skies during the horse show debut.

The popular four-day event, which is the second-to-last state fair of the season, will run through Sunday. Events include antique tractor pulls, pumpkin carvings, pig scrambles and live entertainment โ€” local musical acts, magic shows and a family circus.

The fair, located at 34 Stage Rd., is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $12 for adults and free for kids 12 and younger. Senior citizens aged 65 and older can purchase tickets at the gate for $9 on Thursday and Friday. All military are free to enter with identification.
