Both sides are the same

From an objective standpoint the political left and right are the same. They both look at the other side as the “enemy.” They both use derogatory language to describe the other side, fascists, communists, racists or pedophiles. They both only consume information that supports their beliefs, showing a clear case of confirmation bias. If you go to a left leaning or right leaning Facebook page or follow a Twitter account, the vast majority of the posts are just gossip and trickery. If you hate President Trump there are Facebook pages and Twitter accounts for you. If you love President Trump, you can find plenty of content as well. The mainstream news media outlets are not blameless. You get a completely different story from the same event if you go to CNN and then Fox News. Unbiased news coverage is a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, the rest of us that don’t buy the garbage from the left or right are left out. No one really cares about the middle of the road voters. I guess I understand why we don’t contribute to campaign funds. We don’t attend rallies. We just reluctantly vote for the candidate that is less awful. It’s become trendy to quote songs in Concord Monitor letter submissions so here is mine. Our political landscape reminds me of a Who song “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”
