Climate Change is Real

Climate scientists almost unanimously agree that: 1) climate change is real and 2) it is caused by human activity, including burning fossil fuels. Nearly all actively publishing climate scientists say humans are the cause. I suspect very few people doubt that we are seeing climate change. If you stuck your head out the window most of this summer, you know. If you see your parched lawn, you know. If you like to ski, you know.

I suspect only conspiracy theorists substantially disagree and debate this. But for those who do, there are several questions they need to ask. Why have lobsters largely migrated to more northern waters? Lobsters donโ€™t belong to political parties. Lobsters donโ€™t work for the media outlets they donโ€™t like. Ask yourself why โ€œ100 year stormsโ€ now appear every couple of years. And why 1,000 year storms appear every 10 or so years. Storms donโ€™t belong to political parties.

Donald Trump told the UN General Assembly that renewable energy is a scam and a joke. He produced no supporting facts. Claiming that coal is clean doesnโ€™t make it so. Meanwhile, sea levels rise. Houses fall into the sea and land is swept away. No climate change? Tell that to someone whose property floods at high tide. Walk through neighborhoods where previously water-safe houses are now surrounded by extra walls or are being raised up on stilts. Climate change is very real. And it threatens our existence.
