Bigger and bigger
Here we go again. The Monitor of Oct. 6 stated the proposed new police station has grown to be three times the size of the current facility. I don’t recall ever seeing an explanation of what shortcomings of the current facility justify a new station, let alone one three times larger. A friendly reminder to the city council about what happened as the proposed new middle school as the cost continued to grow from an original estimate of $85 million to now $150 million. The taxpayers deserve a more complete explanation.
And while we are discussing the police station, what are the plans for the existing facility should this project move forward and at what cost? This should be added to the total project cost estimate as both will affect the city tax rate. We need a reality check by both the city council and school board.
