Disgraceful and Disrespectful Performance

I got drawn into the “oversight” hearing of the U.S. Senate’s Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and was appalled repeatedly by the arrogance, nastiness and unresponsiveness of the U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi. Not only were her responses to Democratic senators full of non-answers when compared to how she responded to their Republican colleagues, but she engaged in utterly disrespectful personal attacks on many of the Democratic senators. I cannot remember a more disgraceful performance by a cabinet level official in my many years of watching Congressional hearings. Furthermore, the chair of the committee, the barely functioning Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, had to be prompted to restore order when Ms. Bondi went off the rails many times in her tirades against Democratic senators. This was truly one of the most disappointing “performances” of any administration official of either party that I can remember.
