America First? Nope
The government shutdown is here because Republicans won’t agree to reimburse Working Class Americans for their health insurance premiums, as has been done for several years. But the Trump government is giving Argentina $20 billion to bail it out of its financial woes. That’s not America First.
There is a conspiracy theory that undocumented immigrants would also be reimbursed for their health insurance premiums but that is wrong. That is a Republican mis-truth, sometimes known as a lie. The reimbursement comes in the form of a tax credit, which only U.S. citizens and “lawful permanent residents” can get. No non-citizens get the tax credit reimbursement. So Argentina gets a bailout but Middle Class Americans get the middle finger from the GOP.
