There are a string of citywide races and ballot questions before all Concord voters this year, but residents in some of the city’s ten smaller districts, called wards, have additional races to consider.
Your ward determines who represents you on the city council and local school board as well as where you’ll go to cast your ballot.
Unsure which ward you live in? Start by checking a map of voting districts at https://www.concordnh.gov/DocumentCenter/View/69/Ward-Map. Zoom in at the link to see your exact street.
Another way to find out your ward is to enter your address into the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s polling location search at https://app.sos.nh.gov/pollingplacesampleballot. This will tell you the address of your voting location.
Then, using that address, find your polling location on the city’s ward list at https://www.concordnh.gov/DocumentCenter/View/67/Polling-Locations?bidId=. This will tell you which ward you’re in.
For example, The Monitor’s office is at 1 Monitor Drive. The state lookup indicates our polling location would be at the Merrimack Valley High School Gymnasium. The city’s list shows that the MV High School Gym is the polling place for Ward 1.
So, a resident at the Monitor’s address would be voting in the Ward 1 City Council race, in addition to citywide races and ballot questions. Since our address is in the Merrimack Valley School District, that voter wouldn’t participate in a Concord School District board election.
Polling locations in Concord are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
