Re-elect Stacey Brown for Ward 5
My name is Stacey Brown and I am running for re-election as the Ward 5 City Councilor. I have always felt called to serve the public: as a middle school teacher, Army sergeant, intelligence officer, administrator for nonprofits and as an elected official. Serving on the City Council is incredibly challenging and rewarding as I strive to engage and educate residents in the civic process while advocating for policy changes.
As I near the end of my second term, I recognize how much I enjoy being a public representative and how much more there is to learn. In addition to regular communications with city leadership, fellow councilors and committee members, I am continually pursuing opportunities to learn more about how our local government operates by reviewing past city budgets and annual reports, talking with former elected officials and participating in networking and leadership opportunities. I am regularly amazed by the resources available and believe largely that we have the ability to resolve many systemic issues locally through connection, communication and partnerships.
While I have been successful in resolving many issues for constituents, in the long-term I hope to empower more people to participate in our democracy and tackle larger issues together: poverty, homelessness, racism and hunger. I would be honored to continue serving as the Ward 5 City Councilor and ask for your vote on Nov. 4.
