Residents from around New England and New Hampshire were treated to a peculiar sight in the late afternoon and night sky on Tuesday as a white-ish spiral stood out above.
The object appeared as a swirl and left many people in Concord, Boscawen, Pittsfield and surrounding towns wondering what they were looking at.
As reported by the Monitor earlier this year, it’s not unusual to see odd lights and unidentified aerial phenomena, sometimes referred to as UFO’s, in the New Hampshire sky.
Shortly after images went viral online, meteorlogists from across the region suspected it may be the Ariane 6 rocket launch.
This rocket launched from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. It carried with it the Sentinel-1D satellite, used for Earth surface imaging, marine and land monitoring and emergency responses.
