Rail-With-Trail Compromise

A rail-with-trail offers the best of both worlds in Concord. We already have existing dirt roads and trails bypassing the entire length of the Scenic Railriders. There’s a dirt road at Morrill Farm, a meandering trail across Goodwin Point, a well-traveled trail and/or dirt road at Sewalls Falls and a picturesque trail at Morono Park. That combination is also more fun than a straight corridor.

Naturally, the bridge at Hannah Dustin would have a narrow passage for bikes and the bridge/culvert at Goodwin Point would need to be widened.

I’d like to recommend that folks walk the dirt roads and trails that parallel the Scenic Railriders to see for yourself the beauty and possibilities. I’d also like to encourage people to walk or ride the Cotton Valley Rail Trail to observe the successful rail-with-trail compromises and cross-overs. Most importantly, I’m asking everybody to respect the contributions of the LeBlanc family. They boot-strapped this successful venture the old-fashioned American way, with their own resources, in comparison to the city, state, and non-profits who spend everybody else’s money.
